Lo Spirito della liturgia (1919) è l’opera che R. Guardini dedica, in un tempo e contesto contrassegnato dal novum della modernità disincantata, alla celebrazione dell’aspetto epifanico del sacro culto. Lo scritto – che mantiene l’idea di polarità tipica del Guardini – presenta un parallelismo sui generis tra il simbolismo e la spiritualità del gesto liturgico e la paradossalità propria dell’esperienza ludico-artistica. I rimandi simbolici della creazione e del gioco esprimono, secondo l’originale interpretazione del pensatore, le trasposizioni estetico-esistenziali dell’enigmaticità del mistero soprannaturale. Inoltre, l’attenzione riservata alla dimensione estetica, quale orizzonte di manifestazione sublime del numinoso, si tradurrà in occasione per evidenziare l’indiscusso primato del concreto vivente singolare – manifestatosi nell’amore salvifico – dinanzi all’insufficienza dell’autocrazia volontaristica e concettuale dell’etica moderna. Polarity and aesthetic-playful contribution in Romano Guardini’s the liturgical hermeneutics

The Spirit of Liturgy (1919) is the work that R. Guardini dedicates to the celebration of the epiphanic aspect of the sacred cult, in a time and context that was marked by the novum of a disenchanted modernity. The work – that keeps the polarity’s idea, which is typical for Guardini – presents a parallelism sui generis between symbolism and spirituality of the liturgical gestures and the paradoxicality of the playful and artistic experience. According to the Author’s original interpretation, the symbolic references to the creation an to the play express the aesthetic-existential transportations of the supernatural mystery’s enigma. Moreover, the attention that is reserved to the aesthetic dimension, as an horizon where the numinous shows itself in a sublime way, becomes an opportunity of stressing the undoubted primacy of the singular concrete living – that has revealed himself in the saving love – in front of the incapacity that the modern ethics has proved by its voluntary and conceptual autocracy. Only in the silent twilight – Guardini illustrates – the deep and ineffable sense of the transcendent mystery reveals itself: the Logos’ revelation through a flesh school, the sublime sign that is waiting for Love.
